Career Coaching

OSPE has partnered with CareerCycles to offer members one-on-one professional career coaching, from anywhere in the province. OSPE members benefit preferential rates for career management programs. CareerCycles has helped over 500+ engineers make well-informed career choices, increase clarity and job satisfaction, conduct effective job searches, and maximize alignment between engineers and the organizations they work for.

DESCRIPTION

Program 1: Starting point for OSPE members with a career questions.

Exploratory consultation for Engineers


(One * 1-hour session)

$79.00


Can be face to face or phone/Skype. Addresses client's career questions and situation. Associate makes recommendation on next steps. 'No strings attached' - Client is free to accept or decline.

INCLUDES

  • A 60-minute face-to-face, telephone or Skype consultation with CareerCycles Associate
  • Initial "Career Sketch" that starts you thinking in a new way – right way – about your career and life
  • Recommendation of next steps
  • A full credit of the consultation will be put toward any of our career programs including 5 or more hours of in-session service
Program 2: For OSPE members asking, 'what now, and how do I get there?'


Personalized Career Management Program:

(Nine * 1-hour sessions)

  • Nine-hour program with a CareerCycles Associate
  • Access to CareerCycles Online Storyteller tools, for 6 months
  • It includes both our processes: Career & Life Clarification, and Intentional Exploration
  • Built-in to the program is in-session time to work on career tools, if necessary or desired: resume, Interviews, LinkedIn profile, applications, negotiations, strategizing
  • End-of-session follow up summary emails outlining your next steps
  • Contact for career exploration: We will provide you at least one contact in a field you're interested in. We provide the introduction and a "Field Research" plan to guide you
  • Customized selection from the bank of inspiring Career Buzz career story podcasts
Program 3: For OSPE members asking, 'what can I do with what I have?'

PEO Experience Record Preparation

Interview Preparation - for Experience Requirements Committee (ERC)

(Two * 1-hour sessions)

  • One-on-one, high quality career sessions with a CareerCycles Associate. Program has 2.0-hours usually delivered in two sessions.
  • Thorough review and critique of your Experience Record draft, with specific and targeted feedback, and where required, editing and collaborative rewriting in the What/How/Why format preferred by PEO
  • Clear instructions on next steps after first meeting, to improve and refine your draft
  • Effective second meeting to review and consolidate changes, resulting in improved version of your Experience Record
For OSPE members asking, 'how can I present myself in a job or PEO ERC interview?'
  • Professional and recorded practice interview with detailed critique, feedback, and suggestions for improvement, tailored to your situation
  • MP3 recording emailed after session for further learning
  • Relevant and effective between-session tasks
  • 12-page detailed handout with sample questions, sample responses, job offer negotiation tips and resources
  • End-of-session follow up summary emails outlining your next steps
