Tibor Turi, P.Eng.
Tibor is the Regional Director of Business Development at the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE). Previously, he was the founding Manager of the Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council of Canada’s Ontario Regional Office. In 2017, after being elected to the OSPE Board of Directors, he was appointed as the OSPE representative on the National Engineering Month Ontario Steering Committee and joined the OSPE Nominations Committee. For 2018-2019, Tibor serves as OSPE Vice Chair for the Board of Directors, chairs the Board Development & Strategic Planning Committee, and continues on in his second year as Chair of the Research and Innovation Task Force.
Tibor was a reviewer for the University of Toronto Connaught Awards, as well as an industry expert on the OCE’s External Review Panel. He has presented various papers at conferences such as the International Conference on Thermomechanical Processing of Steels, Canadian Materials Science Conference, Corrosion 2008 Conference and Expo, and 2005 Conference of Metallurgists. He was an invited speaker at the 2007 Cold Climate Construction Conference and Expo, presenting “Steel Plate and Welded Shapes and Profiles for Cold Climate Construction.” He is also a globally recognized expert on strategy and innovation, with special speaking invitations abroad from various European Canadian Embassies.
Tibor earned his B.Eng. and M.Eng. from McMaster University, his Ph.D. focusing on nanotechnology from Queen’s University, his Post Doctorate from the University of Toronto and an Executive Certificate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management.
