Emily Thorn Corthay, P.Eng.
Emily Thorn Corthay, P.Eng. is President of Thorn Associates, an energy and carbon management consulting corporation, and past Director of Energy Optimization and Management at Hatch Ltd., a 10,000 employee international engineering consulting firm.
With over 15 years of experience in energy engineering, people and project management, and client relations, Emily has published ten papers on energy optimization, distributed generation and fuel cells in journals such as Chemical Engineering Progress and has provided keynote addresses at multiple conferences.
Beyond her wealth of technical knowledge in the areas of energy and carbon (greenhouse gas) management, Emily also has a wealth of experience serving on several advocacy committees. She has been Chair of OSPE’s Energy Task Force since 2016 and a member of OSPE’s Audit & Finance Committee since 2018, to name a few. Passing on knowledge to the next generation is important to Emily, so she is 1 of 5 Canadian instructors to teach the Certified Energy Manager course.
Emily holds a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and a Bachelors of Applied Science in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Emily is also a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional and a recent Laureate of the RelèveTO Young Professional Award
