OSPE recently rejected suggestions by the Ministry of the Environment
(MOE) that professional engineers should have to be certified
to be qualified for Brownfields. The Society’s response
comes on the heels of word that the Ministry’s Regulation
153/04 with respect to who is considered a “qualified
person” for the purpose of signing off on a Record of
Site Condition may require additional certification for professional
engineers...

Results of the OSPE 2005 Employer Compensation Survey shows
continued median base salary growth for engineers at all levels
in Ontario has outpaced the increase in Ontario’s Consumer
Price Index (CPI). From 2004 to 2005, the CPI for Ontario increased
1.9%, while median base salaries for engineers increased in
the 2.3% to 4.4% range, depending on the engineering responsibility
level.
This summer, the Ontario Government delayed implementing key
Building Regulatory changes involving qualification and registration
requirements for building designers, including engineers until
January 1, 2006...
