This summer,
the Ontario Government delayed implementing key Building Regulatory
changes involving qualification and registration requirements for
building designers, including engineers until January 1, 2006.
The
Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) Ontario
Regulation 305/03 requires certain building practitioners
to successfully complete an Examination Program relating to their
knowledge of the Building Code Act, 1992 and Ontario
Building Code. This Examination Program policy applies
to building officials, designers, on-site sewage system installers
and staff of registered code agencies.
While
OSPE does not support Bill 124, OSPE is offering Building Regulatory
Reform courses as part of our professional development offerings
to make sure that members remain competitive and are prepared for
writing the exams by January 1, 2006.
