Water Environment Association of Ontario representative joins OSPE Safe Water Task Force

OSPE is pleased to announce the addition of Carl Bodimeade, P.Eng., Chair of the Water Environment Association of Ontario (WEAO) Collection System Committee and member of its Government Affairs Committee to our Safe Water Task Force.

Mr. Bodimeade joins the Task Force as a WEAO representative and in addition to his personal experience, brings the organization’s vast expertise and support to the group. The new partnership is part of the Society’s ongoing mandate to strengthen the community and network of professional engineers.

OSPE’s Safe Water Task Force was created in the Spring of 2000, in response to the tragic events that unfolded in Walkerton, Ontario. The Task Force testified before the Walkerton Inquiry and submitted recommendations to Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment, many of which were incorporated into Bill 175, the Sustainable Water and Sewage Systems Act, and Bill 195, the Safe Drinking Water Act. Today, mandatory involvement of professional engineers in the management of Ontario’s water system is resulting in more demand for engineers and safer water for Ontarians.

The Task Force continues to monitor developments in the area of safe water and develops policy recommendations for all levels of government with a focus on Queen’s Park.
