Political Action Network ready to hit the ground on engineering issues

Last month, OSPE held its first training session for the Society’s newly created Political Action Network (PAN). The first group of participants attended a one-day training session in the OSPE offices to review policy issues and to learn more about their role on PAN. The network will engage in government relations activities on a local level advocating issues of importance to engineers on behalf of OSPE members.

All PAN participants are volunteer members who will attend meetings and establish direct contact with officials in their local ridings with the goal of extending the reach of OSPE’s advocacy work at a grassroots level across the province. The PAN initiative allows members to become directly involved in OSPE’s advocacy work and help strengthen the voice of professional engineers in Ontario.

PAN volunteers are scheduled to begin meeting with Members of Parliament in the coming weeks and updates on their work will be posted on the OSPE website on an ongoing basis.

OSPE is still recruiting volunteers for PAN and interested members are asked to contact Hanan Jibry, P.Eng., OSPE’s Director of Policy and Government Relations at hjibry@ospe.on.ca or by phone at 416-223-9961, Ext. 236.
