In
our efforts to build our Career Centre services for engineers, the
Society has initiated an enhancement process that will see new information
and features added to the online Career Centre this fall. The process
has already begun with a new Cover Letter feature for job seekers
and the addition of a resume mining option for employers looking
to hire engineers.
For
engineers who use the Career Centre to find employment, applying
for jobs has just got easier! We have added a new feature that will
allow members to easily include a cover letter along with their
resumes when they apply online for jobs in the Career Centre. Over
and above your resume, a cover letter is an important tool to introduce
yourself to an employer and to showcase your communication skills.
To
use the new cover letter feature, simply log in at www.ospe.on.ca
and go to the Career Centre. In the 'Members' menu, under 'Job Search,'
select 'Add/Edit Cover Letter.' This easy-to-use tool allows you
to save and edit multiple cover letters online so that you no longer
have to re-type or re-paste a cover letter every time you apply
online for a job opening.
When
you find a job that you are interested in, all you need to do is
complete the online application form below that job posting by attaching
your resume and the cover letter of your choice. When you are ready,
just hit the 'Send' button and both your resume and cover letter
will be sent automatically to the employer. It's that easy!
In
addition to valuable resources for engineers seeking jobs, the Career
Centre offers a variety of services for employers looking to hire
engineers, such as job posting, resume mining, salary information
and more.
Until
recently, however, only employers who purchased job posting services
could access the Society's resume database. The Society has now
introduced a new feature that allows employers to purchase resume
database access only. If you are looking to hire engineers, this
convenient, affordable tool can help you recruit qualified candidates.
If you are looking for a job, now there's even greater reason to
keep an updated resume in our Career Centre database at all times!
