Society's Toronto Launch to kick off full weekend of events

On Thursday, November 6, 2003, engineers, CEOs and other invited guests will gather at a special reception celebrating the official launch of the Toronto Region of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers. The Toronto Regional Launch is the first in a three-day series of events designed to encourage Ontario engineers to "Get Networking, Get Educated and Get Involved."

The Toronto Regional Launch is a "Get Networking" event not to be missed. Along with the Society's Board of Directors, local and provincial politicians and the "who's who" of Toronto's engineering, science and technology community will be on hand to help the Society launch our operations in the area. Attendees can connect with colleagues and learn about the Society's activities in the region all at the historic Design Exchange in downtown Toronto. The highlight of the evening will be a keynote address from award-winning broadcast journalist Wendy Mesley on how engineers can effectively communicate with the media and influence public policy.

The Launch will be followed by a unique Professional Development Day, taking place Friday, November 7, also in downtown Toronto. Attendees will have the opportunity to "Get Educated," with a choice of three full-day professional development programs, plus breakfast and lunch, great speakers and tickets to the Toronto Regional Launch and General Assembly - all for one great package price.

The weekend will wrap up with an opportunity for Professional, Intern, Associate and Student members of the Society to "Get Involved" at the Society's General Assembly on Saturday, November 8. The theme of this year's Assembly is The ABC's of Engineering: Advocating, Building, Communicating. The event will bring together Society members from across the province to share ideas and strategies for raising the profile of the engineering profession in Ontario through advocacy, awareness building and effective communication.
