Intended Audience:
Engineers who write, edit, or contribute to the following documents: formal reports, test reports, field reports, audits, laboratory reports, failure analyses, evaluations, plans, proposals, conference papers, dissertations, and journal articles.
Description:
This workshop is designed to help Professional Engineers learn how to produce written material that is accessible, usable, and relevant for their target audience. Checklists, templates, and other aids help you focus on your content, so you can prepare better reports in less time.
This hands-on workshop features Power Point presentations, discussions, individual and small-group exercises. You'll apply what you learn to your own documents. Students are asked to bring samples of reports that they are working on and apply the new concepts from the workshop to their own work.
Learning Outcomes:
- Develop strategies for analyzing organizational contexts, including audiences, purposes for writing, and organizational cultures.
- Understand the ethical considerations involved in organizational communication.
- Design documents, including memos, letters, and reports, that meet the needs of your audiences and that accomplish your goals.
- Make your reports look better.
- Learn how to document information.
- Construct effective visuals.
- Test and revise designs and ideas.
- Write clearly and concisely for different levels of audiences.
- Write for different media, including print and electronic.

Cancellation Policy:
OSPE reserves the right to cancel the course no later than seven (7) days prior to course start date due to low enrolment or other reasons. If the course is canceled by OSPE, a full (100%) refund will be provided to the registrant
Refunds as a Result of Withdrawal
For all courses, refunds as a result of withdrawal are processed only according to the following criteria:
- Written notification of withdrawal received at least 10 business days prior to the commencement of the course. Refund amount is 100% of the cost of the course less a $50 administration fee.
- Written notification of withdrawal received less than 10 business days prior to the commencement of the course. Refund amount is 30% of the cost of the course.
- No refunds will be processed less than 24 hours before a course has commenced.
Those who fail to show up for the course or program they registered for, or those who withdraw without providing written notification as described above, will be subject to the full fee of the course or program and will be invoiced for the full cost of the respective course or program.
