62nd Annual Ontario Professional Engineers Awards Gala

The 50th Anniversary of the Avro Arrow and the 100th Anniversary of the Silver Dart were amoungst the Canadian Aeronautical Engineering accomplishments celebrated at the 62nd Annual Ontario Professional Engineers Awards Gala on November 21st at the Toronto Congress Centre. Presented annually by OSPE and PEO, the Professional Engineers Awards Program recognizes excellence across a broad range of engineering endeavours, including innovation, professional leadership, and entrepreneurship.

With Master of Ceremonies duties shared by OSPE President and Chair Annette Bergeron, MBA, P.Eng, and PEO President Catherine Karakatsanis, M.E.Sc., P.Eng, the evening kicked off with an exciting video greeting from astronaut Dr. Robert Thirsk aboard the International Space Station. Former astronaut, and collegue of Dr. Thirsk, Dr. Bjarni Tryggvason's enthralling keynote address brought an environmental perspective to the view from space.

(Engineering Medal – Entrepreneurship), Raymond Joseph Mantha, P.Eng., Lloyd Alexander McCoomb, PhD, P.Eng., and John David Tofflemire, P.Eng. (Engineering Medals –Management), Chul B. Caleb Park, PhD, P.Eng., Greg J. Evans, PhD, P.Eng., Nazir P. Kherani, PhD, P.Eng., Edward Arthur McBean, PhD, P.Eng., Ian Donald Moore, PhD, P.Eng., and Javad Mostaghimi, PhD, P.Eng. (Engineering Medals – Research and Development), Dwayne R. Shirley, PhD, P.Eng. (Engineering Medal – Young Engineer), and Mohinder Singh Grover, PhD, P.Eng. (Citizenship Award).
