Members Network at High Speed
January
11, 2010 -
Over sixty OSPE members seized the invaluable opportunity
to meet directly with employers at OSPE's first Speed Networking
event in Toronto.
Representatives from the eleven participating employers set
up at static stations around the venue, and met with participants
in groups of six. Following nine minutes of discussion (a
wrap-up warning was issued following seven minutes elapsed),
each group of networkers relocated clockwise to the next employer
station. The participants were able to visit all eleven participating
employer stations before concluding the evening with thirty
minutes of general mingling.
The event maintained a relaxed and professional atmosphere,
with participants enjoying the candid and frank nature of
the discussions. The event was beneficial for the employers
as well, and many have already requested to participate in
future OSPE Speed Networking events.
Participating employers included: AECOM; Areva; Carson Dunlop
Weldon; Construction Control Inc.; Crossey Engineering; D.R.
Boulay & Associates; Hatch; Ministry of Transportation;
MDA Corporation; Myriad International; and Qualcomm.
Member response was unprecedentedly high during advance registration.
Due to the logistic nature of speed networking events, attendance
had to be strictly limited to ensure that every participant
got sufficient networking time with each employer. Unfortunately
as a result, many interested OSPE members were unable to attend,
and we thank them for their understanding of the capacity
restraints.
