Economy
Updates
The economy is an issue for
everyone and as the Voice of Ontario’s Engineers
OSPE has a responsibility to address the recent
global financial challenge through the perspective
of the entire field of engineering. OSPE believes
that many, if not all, facets of the engineering
profession will be affected by this economic contraction
and we intend to research its impact as it relates
to the labour market, credit availability, company/plant/project
closures and downsizing.
OSPE researchers will cull
data to create impact statements. We will look
at both provincial and federal government actions;
Ontario-specific data from the Engineers Canada
Labour Market Study; focus groups and information
sessions. Combined, these will help inform our
position.
