Electric power distribution system plays an important role in the efficient operation of a modern industrial plant. Such a system includes high voltage circuit breakers, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, electric motors, variable speed drives, etc. A trouble-free electrical system is essential for an interruption-free plant operation. This course will cover all aspects of power distribution, including system planning, equipment selection and application, system grounding, protection and conformity with electrical code requirements, etc. Participants will work under instructor guidance to develop a power distribution system single line diagram for a typical industrial plant.

To provide practical understanding of a power distribution system and its protection in an industrial plant.

Ajit Bapat
Ajit Bapat is well known in the electrical distribution field for his 40 years of expertise in the art and science of ground fault protection. He holds Master's degrees in business administration and electrical engineering, specializing in power systems and power system protection. He has particular interest in ground fault protection; digital metering systems; microprocessor based integrated systems for protection; and the metering, monitoring, and control of power distribution systems. A member of Professional Engineers Ontario, he is also a senior life member of the IEEE.
