CANDIDATE
STATEMENT
I have enjoyed 30 years of engineering experience in the mining industry. My previous experience as a PEO chapter executive has shown me the need to include everyone in both professional and recreational activities.
This position has prepared me for the position of OSPE Board member which I am asking for your support.
In supporting me, my main priorities working with the OSPE board will be:
Effective communication with PEO
-
Advocate for dialogue between OSPE and companies that use engineering services.
-
Creating awareness of the benefit of OSPE (e.g. lower insurance cost etc.).
-
Career guidance in universities through mentorship, career workshops and touring of engineering companies and facilities by students.
-
Look at better ways to mentor EIT's and assist engineers that are new to Canada.
-
Raise the profile of engineers through public speaking, sports and community service.
-
Have a voice from OSPE on proposed government legislation affecting engineering concerns
-
Listen to the voice and concerns of members and advocate for change if needed.
I see this opportunity as a way to give back to the very engineering community that allowed me to have my chosen career. I see myself as someone to serve on the OSPE board at this point in the history of the organization. I encourage you to vote for me.
